Speeding vehicle strikes pedestrians in NY, killing one person

A car plowed into a crowd of pedestrians in New York’s bustling Times Square on Thursday, leaving one person dead and at least 12 other injured in what officials said was an accident.
The Fire Department confirmed the toll in the accident, which took place at the height of lunch hour at 45th Street and Broadway in Times Square. A police source said that the 26-year-old man driving the vehicle was in custody.
The New York Police Department closed off the area after the collision at the Midtown Manhattan tourist site.
CBS also said Times Square incident was not connected to terrorism, citing New York City police. CBS said that vehicle was red Sedan and the driver was removed.
The White House later said that US President Donald Trump has been made aware of the incident and will continue to receive updates.
